REAL STORIES FROM REAL PEOPLE

Ever since I was about fourteen, I felt the ocean calling me. The peace I experienced standing by the shore was unlike anything else. It was not the comfort of home or even the joy of music. It was deeper. When I was near the water, everything else in my world faded away, and I felt a stillness that I could not explain.

What I did not realize then was that the peace I felt was not just from the ocean. It was from God Himself.

Through the waves, the tides, and the endless horizon, I could sense His presence. The vastness of the ocean became a reflection of His glory and His limitless power. It is where I feel closest to Him and where I am reminded of the beauty and purpose He has placed not only in creation but in me too.

Growing up in a small town, I often heard discouraging words:

“You will never make a career in marine biology.”

“Even if you study it, what will you really do with it?”

No one seemed to believe that this dream could become something real, but God planted it in my heart, and I could not let it go. Despite the doubts, I kept pursuing what I knew He had called me to.

After many prayers, I saw God open doors I never thought possible. I was accepted into my dream internship, working alongside one of the founders of coral restoration in the Florida Keys. It was an incredible blessing, but even then, new challenges came. People asked:

“How will you afford to live down there?”

“How can you make this work?”

I did not have all the answers, but I chose to trust God anyway. And as always, He provided. Family members stepped in with support, and two remote job opportunities appeared in perfect timing.

Now, as I near the end of this internship, I am filled with overwhelming gratitude. God has given me new ideas, renewed passion for marine conservation, and a deeper understanding of His faithfulness. Through it all, He has reminded me of His promises, often through rainbows, just as He once promised Noah.

Each time I see one, I feel Him whisper:

“I will keep My promises. I will guide you where you are meant to go.”

My journey is far from over, but I know Who goes before me. I am learning that when we step out in faith, even when the path seems uncertain, God makes a way. He equips us, provides for us, and uses our passions to glorify Him and care for His creation.

So I continue to walk in faith, inspired by the ocean and anchored in the One who made it.
